SAL is a five-work series born from mornings and afternoons spent in the Sal forest of Kanha. The paintings hold the forest's structure in fragments ,the entwined  grip of strangler trees, the remarkable architecture of termite mounds, the upright discipline of Sal trunks pieced together the way memory pieces together a place once you've left it. Colour carries the day's temperature shift: the cool blue-greys of a safari morning give way to the searing rust and ochre of afternoon, before settling into the deep green-black of dusk. Running through every canvas is the fluorescent green of the Sal leaf itself ,the detail that stayed longest after the trip ended, and the one thread that ties all five works back to a single forest.
